About Stratum Engineering
A joint venture of Smartsys and Oskar-El, bringing together more than 50 years of engineering and manufacturing experience.
Stratum: the layers of a control system
Stratum is the Latin word for layers, the plural of strata. The broad set of our services and products covers all layers of the process to design, commission and maintain industrial control and safety systems. So when we looked for a name, that was what we came up with.
The company is a joint venture between Smartsys and Oskar-El. It was created to:
- Expand the range of products and services, and develop new ones.
- Increase customers' confidence and find new customers.
- Access greater resources: the skills of specialized staff, technology and more.
Two founders, 50% each
Our founding companies have worked in automation and electrical engineering for more than 30 years between them, and until recently had no sales department: their work came by reputation.

Equipment we have invested in
We build our own machines and equipment when the ones on the market do not fit our needs or are more expensive to run. We also run our own ERP system, tailored to our processes, and our own software, SmartWEB.
